Film Anatomy of a Movie Poster: Savages

Though most have been quick to point of similarities between the poster for Savages (2012) and Babel (2006), both owe a debt of gratitude to the poster for the Havoc (2005).
Movie Poster Fun delves into the etymology of a few other posters build around stacked horizontal images:
Babies (2010) and Bee Season (2005):
Horizontal imagery on posters may have started with Steven Soderbergh's 1989 sex, lies and videotape...and come to think of it, Soderbergh's 2011 Contagion stacked vertical text on a movie poster.
The entire Savages concept may find its roots in the album art (kids, there used to be a thing called records...) from the Police's "Synchronicity." How Jungian:
