Anatomy of a Movie Poster: Savages

Though most have been quick to point of similarities between the poster for Savages (2012) and Babel (2006), both owe a debt of gratitude to the poster for the Havoc (2005).

Horizontal imagery on posters may have started with Steven Soderbergh's 1989 sex, lies and videotape...and come to think of it, Soderbergh's 2011 Contagion stacked vertical text on a movie poster.

The entire Savages concept may find its roots in the album art (kids, there used to be a thing called records...) from the Police's "Synchronicity." How Jungian:
