Every election, the Atlanta Press Club invites the city’s four or five still-employed journalists to Georgia Public Broadcasting’s Midtown headquarters, where they don make-up and ask political candidates pointed questions in front of TV cameras and a live audience. These political hopefuls also get a chance to grill their challengers for elected office. The result is aired on public television and streamed online, sometimes with hilarious and/or awkward results.

It’s a noble endeavor and, for many voters, one of the few chances to see candidates speak. (It’s also guaranteed to continue at least for the next 10 years, thanks to a $1 million gift last year from Charlie Loudermilk, a civic leader and founder of Aaron’s Inc.)

The press club is continuing the tradition for the July 31 primary elections with debates between candidates who want to represent Georgia’s congressional districts or serve on the Public Service Commission. If you’d like to attend one of the debates, head to 260 14th Street in Midtown. If you have any questions, email the press club or call 404-577-7377.

We’ve pasted the full schedule, including taping and broadcast times, after the jump.
