The presidential race is just starting to gear up and already we're kind of sick of it. Those who argue that we need a third party in this country are probably onto something. Or maybe we just need more candidates who can express their views through the magic of opera.

Allow us to introduce Stan Woodard, Atlanta-based conceptual artist, musician, singer, poet ... and presidential candidate. Every four years since 1996, Woodard has run for president, making his case to win voters' support through song, video, art and performance.

This Wednesday, June 18, starting at 8 p.m., Woodard will present a recitation of songs from his work Stan Woodard for President, the Opera followed by a slideshow entitled Why I Run at the West Midtown gallery Poem 88.
The Why I Run presentation includes a history of Woodard's presidential bids from 1996-2008.

We think Woodard's record (he's never been indicted for anything) and his stand on the issues (he promises an America where DJs only play your favorite songs) practically ensure he'll be a strong contender in November. Yard signs and other campaign materials will be available at the event.
