The performances cap off a series of shows gloATL has performed throughout July in Atlanta's public places including the Lindbergh MARTA station, the corner of 15th and Peachtree and the storefronts of Little Five Points. The series revisits a similar set of performances presented in the same locations last year, collectively titled Liquid Culture: a series of utopia stations.
This weekend, a cast of four opera soloists from the Atlanta Opera will perform arias alongside movement from 17 gloATL dancers. gloATL's Facebook page lists the arias on the program:
"When I am Laid in Earth" from Dido & Aeneas
"Musetta's Waltz" from La Bohème
"Song to the Moon"from Rusalka
"Flower Duet" from Lakmè
"O Mio Babbino Caro" from Gianni Schicchi
"Dalla Sua Pace" from Don Giovanni
"Nessun Dorma" from Turandot
"Barcarolle" from The Tales of Hoffman
"Flower Song" from Carmen
"Mira, O Norma" from Norma
"Cherry Duet" from L'amico Fritz
"Flower Duet" from Madame Butterfly
In anticipation of the event, we've picked out our favorite YouTube video of "Nessun Dorma."
