Flux throws a street party this weekend

Flux Projects, the organization that provides Atlanta with free temporary art installations and the annual Flux Night of public art, is holding a street party fundraiser this Saturday night, July 21, from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Elliot Street Pub in Castleberry Hill. A $15 cover includes a whole night of entertainment and your first beer free. (Proceeds go towards Flux so the money comes right back at you in the form of free public art. Good deal).

Emily Kempf, lead singer of the recently semi-retired band the Back Pockets, is curating the line-up and performing in the evening of music, performance art, projections and dance, which begins at 10:30 p.m. The program includes: Adam Babar, Billy Mitchell, Bill Guzik, Christopher Farley, Christopher Hollis, Danny Bailey, Gage Gilmore, Joshua Rackliffe, Kris Pilcher, Kyle Sherril, Lakshmi Polavarapu, S. Bedford, Sean T. Conlon, Sirius Bee, Sir Henry Troff and Suzanne Baker.

Elliott Street Pub will be have special street fare in addition to its regular pub menu, and the Good Food Truck will be serving. For more information, visit Flux.

The Back Pockets performed last November at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. Expect a similar evening of surprises as lead singer Em Kempf curates the line-up for Fluxs street party.
