First Slice 8/5/12: The devil is a video lottery terminal

How the world ends, not with a bang but a jackpot and lounge singer
You smell that? Smells like sulfur, don't it? That's the smell of Old Scratch. The devil himself. And with him comes Sunday alcohol sales and, pretty soon, casino gambling.

It appears the next Atlanta Streets Alive, which is scheduled for October, will follow the same successful Virgina-Highland/Poncey-Highland/Inman Park/Old Fourth Ward route — and include the Atlanta Beltline's Eastside Trail.

Federal aviation authorities are continuing their investigation into why four vendors that recently landed lucrative contracts at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport claimed to be disadvantaged businesses. The Georgia Department of Transportation recently closed its inquiry.
