It's a fascinating, provocative pairing of speaker and setting: Walker's famous cut-out silhouettes depict nightmarish scenes of racially charged violence and degradation in the Old South while the Cylcorama is Atlanta's most well-known memorial to the Civil War's infamous Battle of Atlanta. Many of Walker's works are large-scale panoramic wall murals, similar in format to the Cyclorama which she visited as a child growing up in Atlanta.

Her talk, titled "The Art of War" is one of the many dialogues scheduled for the on-going Civil War Summer series, “The American Civil War: One-Hundred-Fifty Years Later." Initiated by The City of Atlanta’s Office of Cultural Affairs and The Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum, the series features "noted historians, author discussions, performances and exhibits designed to inspire new conversations and better understanding of the war’s influence on modern-day Atlanta."

Admission and parking for the Friday event are free and open to the public.
