First slice 8/15/12: Mitchell Street business owners can't catch a break

PARKatlanta, doing their thing.

1. Whether their business is being disrupted by crews filming terrible movies or their customers run-off by overzealous parking enforcement, Mitchell Street merchants can't seem to catch a bureaucratic break. The most recent deterrent to their fiscal success: for the second week in a row, officers erroneously posted signs along Mitchell Street in anticipation of a Thursday night Falcons game that ban parking from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.

2. President Obama's program that allows illegal immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as kids to apply for work credentials begins today.

3. A local child biter was sentenced to four years probation. A "child biter" is exactly what you think it is.

4. An 11Alive reporter did a great public service by sitting on a porch in Virginia-Highland for THREE HOURS just to see how long it would take PARKatlanta to give him a ticket. Thank you. For your public service.
