
2) Another board member has resigned from the Red & Black, University of Georgia’s student newspaper that was Red & Dead just days ago. Charles Russell of Atlanta said he couldn’t be a part of what the board plans to do next, but wouldn’t say what or why exactly. The saga continues.
3) There’s a bit of silver lining after the passing of Ivan, Zoo Atlanta’s 50-year-old western lowland gorilla that died earlier this week. Lulu, another western lowlander at Zoo Atlanta and daughter of the late Willie B., has a youngin’ on the way.
4) The reward for information about to the July 26 shooting death of Grant Park resident David McReynolds has been upped to $2,500 after the Grant Park Neighborhood Association voted late Tuesday to make a $500 donation to Crime Stoppers Atlanta.
5) Word on the street is that Marietta-based Lockheed Martin (you know, that big company that does a bunch of government stuff, like build planes) is getting ready to axe 550 jobs as the production of it’s primary aircraft line, the C-130J, putters out.
6) Federal agents raided a number of Smoke 911 locations earlier this week looking for items related to synthetic marijuana, bath salts, and money laundering claims. No arrests were made, but bank accounts were seized.
