  • WHERE IN THE WORLD: The new film "Samsara," opening tomorrow, Friday, September 7, was filmed in some far-off places. If you can name the one above, you have the chance at winning some fabulous prizes.
Samsara, the new film from Ron Fricke and Mark Magidson, the creators of the 1992's Baraka, opens tomorrow, Friday, September 7, at Midtown Promenade's Landmark Cinema. Like their first film Baraka, Samsara takes a meditative, non-narrative look at the world, shot in exotic locales, set to a hypnotic score, and presented in lush, colorful 70mm.

We're so excited about Samsara opening in Atlanta that we originally planned to give away a trip to visit all 100 of the exotic locations used in the movie, sending one lucky reader zipping around the globe from China, India, and Japan to Turkey, Ethiopia, France, and Brazil, but we ran into some snags (like, we're really cheap). Fortunately, the film's producers sent us a package with awesome giveaways inside, so we do still have some really great prizes to hand out:

  • First place is a Samsara film poster signed by the film's creators
  • Second place is a copy of the 1992 film Baraka on Blu-Ray
  • Third place is a copy of the Samsara soundtrack signed by the composer

Winners will be chosen at random from the correct answers to our trivia question:

Where in the world is the location pictured in the above film still from Samsara (at the top of the article)?

Leave your answer in the comment section below or email to arts@creativeloafing.com. Be sure to include an email, Twitter handle, cell number, or some other way we can get in touch with you if you win. One entry per person, and winners will be chosen by Creative Loafing.

Winners will be asked to stop by the Creative Loafing offices at Atlantic Station in midtown Atlanta to pick up their prize. (Visiting us at the office is almost as cool as a trip to Brazil, isn't it?)

Good luck!
