Weekend Arts Agenda: Nikita Gale at {Poem 88}

Participating artist in Living Walls and Atlanta local, Nikita Gale explores what life was like for African Americans in the American South during 1961. Opening reception tonight at {Poem 88} from 7-10 p.m. More art after the jump.

Melissa Mason


Melissa Mason and Dave Wertz, working in very different mediums of drawing/painting and metal-work sculpture respectively, have both immersed their work for Equus Revisited at TEW Galleries into a complete study of the horse. An opening reception will be held tonight, from 6-9 p.m.

Meg Aubrey's oil paintings of the mundane suburban life, highlight the certain blandness or bleakness of life in the 'burbs. She is showing a new collection of such paintings titled Domiciled at Whitespace Gallery, with an opening reception tonight from 7-10 p.m.

Travis Dodd  Tunnel

Photographer Travis Dodd explores neglected and abandoned spaces in the urban jungle through a series of photographs and found materials from the spaces he explores. His show Benched Ritual at Beep Beep Gallery opens Saturday night from 7-10 p.m., in conjunction with the Ponce Crush art walk.

Steven Dixeys The Glory of Man

In addition to the opening at Beep Beep, Young Blood Gallery holds the opening reception for the exhibition The Lotus Eaters, which features the work of painters Steven Dixey and Margaret Mroczek, from 7-10 p.m.
