Praise be to the gods! You can now use your debit and credit cards to add cash or trips to your MARTA Breeze card. A software upgrade by MARTA's private vendor software partner caused what company officials called an "extremely unusual" situation.
Victor Hill, the former Clayton County sheriff who reclaimed his seat with a July 31 Democratic primary win despite facing a 37-count felony indictment, will go before a judge in a motions hearing this morning involving the case. Just another day in Clayton County, folks.
Occupy Our Homes Atlanta, a spin-off of the leaderless movement that set up camp in Woodruff Park to protest such issues as income inequality and corporate welfare, will kick off the first of four protests across the country about foreclosure practices at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's regional headquarters in Buckhead. According to Occupy Our Homes, Fannie and Freddie hold more than half of the home mortgages in the United States.
Interesting: DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis has named Hakim Hilliard, a well-known former Atlanta assistant city attorney and partner with high-powered private firm McKenna, Long and Aldridge, his new chief of staff.
