Contraband Cinema kicks off its third season tonight (Saturday, September 15) at 489 Edgewood at 8pm with a one-of-a-kind live film/music happening featuring music from Brooklyn “electro/acoustic folk-psych masters” Christian Science Minotaur, the Atlanta premier of Lawrence Jordan’s 16mm collage animation film Solar Light, and a live video mix by Gregory Zinman exploring the space race and psychedelic consciousness expansion called Inner/Outer Space, an homage to Warhol and Robert Breer.

From the press release:
The A/V journey brings together interstellar NASA footage with abstract depictions of interiority via the films and videos of Stan Brakhage, José Antonio Sistiaga, Adam K. Beckett, Jim Davis, Ture Sjölander, Elias Romero, and others.

The show should be a remarkable companion piece to next week’s screening of Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.

And it will probably make more sense.
