A little while ago, the AJC's Rodney Ho posted a
press release article stating that Rush Limbaugh will move to 750/95.5 WSB beginning on Oct. 1. It's not surprising that the fellow Cox Media Group affiliate made the announcement, but nevertheless it's a big one that brings an end to the ever-controversial talk-show host's longstanding run on 640/92.3 WGST.
After initially airing on WGST in the late '80s, Limbaugh had consistently remained among the station's largest draws. There hasn't been an official statement from WGST's end, but there's been talk that layoffs could happen. Jake Cook, who hosted a show there, told one of his Twitter followers he was no longer with the station.
According to RadioInsight.com, the station may be flipping formats as both Comedy640.com and ESPNDeportesAtlanta.com have been registered for potential use in Atlanta.
For WSB, the new schedule looks like this, which also includes an two-hour evening news show:
4:30 to 8:30 a.m.: Atlanta’s Morning News with Scott Slade
8:30 a.m. to Noon: Neal Boortz
Noon to 3 p.m.: Rush Limbaugh
3 to 5 p.m.: Sean Hannity
5 to 7 p.m.: Atlanta’s Evening News with Erick Erickson
We'll keep our eye out for further updates as they become available.
UPDATE, 6:14 p.m.: 11 Alive has pointed out that Glenn Beck and other notable WGST shows could be headed to 920 WGKA as early as next week.
In addition, former WGST host Rusty Humpries told RadioInfo.com:
It is always sad to see a news/talk facility such as WGST change to another format but I am grateful for the time I had there and was able to spend doing local radio in Atlanta. The people at Clear Channel are fine people and I enjoyed working with them. For me, the good news is that I will have a lot more time to devote to my nationally syndicated TRN program which is growing by leaps and bounds.
LOL, I'm one of those people who do go to these meetings and Reid is…

It's good a thing the majority of the housing project tenants moved to Clayton County.
