Did you know that Tony Danza and Tupac Shakur were pen pals?

This stranger-than-fiction truth is just one of the interesting facts you might learn about the writing life at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta's 21st Book Festival, which kicks off today, Thursday, November 1.

The event brings national, regional, and Atlanta writers together for several weeks of events, as best-selling authors, literary giants, novelists, biographers, children's writers, chefs, celebrities like Danza, and memoirists all come together to read from their work, sign books, and discuss the art of writing.

Appearing as part of the festival are Atlanta's own Ann Uhry Abrams whose latest book Formula for Fortune details the rise of the Candler family in helping to build the modern Coca-Cola company in the early 20th century; best-selling children's writer R.L. Stine; Atlanta chef Jenny Levison discussing her new cookbook Souper Jenny Does Salads; and world-renowned religious scholar and bestselling author Rabbi Harold Kushner. Celebrities with books include: Andrew McCarthy, Tony Danza, Michael Feinstein, and "Hungry Girl" Lisa Lillien.
