Weekend Arts Agenda: Ayokunle Odeleye, 32 Years of Public Art

Famed master sculptor and public artist Ayokunle Odeleye, has been creating work in the public sphere for 32 years. His work appears in cities across the nation, and now MOCA GA has an exhibit honoring this Stone Mountain resident's lifetime body of work. The exhibition features photos, models, drawings and other artifacts commemorating his thirty plus year career, the opening reception will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. More art after the jump in the weekend art's agenda.

FRIDAY

Artists Kristin Thorsen and Jessica Caldas are featuring a collection of recent work titled You Are Here at The Cube Gallery on Memorial Drive. Both of their painting styles reflect a sense of place and architecture, while capturing very different sentiments about the environment they inhabit. The gallery will hold an opening reception tonight from 6-10 p.m.

Terri Dillings New Day

Mason Murer Fine Art is holding a benefit show to raise money for the Atlanta Community Food Bank with the holiday season fast approaching. Mason Murer requests patrons come with a new unwrapped toy for a child in need or make a small donation the night of the event. Among the featured artists is Terri Dillling (her work is posted above), and the gallery will hold an opening reception tonight from 7-9 p.m.

SATURDAY

The Arts Exchange will be offering a last look at Elyse Defoor's Relics of Marriage installation project. This breathtaking installation is definitely worth checking out, from 2-6 p.m.

Suellen Parker at Whitespace Gallery

Whitespace Gallery offers the chance for the community to hear artist Suellen Parker speak about her artistic process and her new body of work currently being shown in the gallery, at 4 p.m. Her hauntingly, memorable portraits and still-lifes have a striking dream like quality that resonates with viewers long after they have left the gallery.
