The Center for Puppetry Arts' Xperimental Puppetry Theater (XPT) series is a program where creative artists from many disciplines join forces to create "bold, original experiments in puppetry!"
Tonight's short film program Best of XPT (Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.) showcases 11 works selected by XPT Program Director Michael Haverty and features a wide variety of animation styles and puppetry forms - from stop-motion to claymation and from shadow to sock.
As always, XPT programs are guaranteed to "inspire, surprise, amuse, and provoke."
The 60-minute screening will be followed by a talk-back with many of the participating artists.
In a season overrun with kiddie puppet shows, childish animated movies, and jejune TV specials, XPT offers a welcome alternative for grown-ups.
If only for one night.
