Atlanta-based SCAD MFA candidate Jennifer Cawley will be hosted by Emily Amy Gallery for her collection of recent paintings, prints, and books titled You Can't Get There From Here. Her work, which touches on a surrealist aesthetic, explores the feeling of limbo while working to the completion of a rigorous degree and will be accompanied by some work from her peers. An opening reception will celebrate these students' hard work from 7-10 p.m. tonight at Emily Amy. More art this weekend after the jump.
Friday

Wonderroot opened a new exhibition last night titled Unsettled, which features 6 artists working in the textile medium. Show curator and participating artist Jess Jones set out to expose Atlanta to artists who 'disrupt the conventional notions of textiles.' This show is worth a look and will be on display into early January at Wonderroot.
Saturday

Beep Beep Gallery's newest exhibition is a group show titled Alchemy where the gallery basically hands out different sized triangles to artists, lets the artist to create work, and then rearranges the triangles into new patterns and forms. This aspect of taking control away from the artist allows their work to take on new meanings and narratives. With a stocked line-up of Atlanta artists, this show will have at least one of any local art enthusiast's favorites.
Sunday

The Atlanta Printmakers Studio holds its Annual Open House in time for the holiday season this Sunday from 3-7 p.m. This is an awesome, once a year opportunity to grab some great prints as gifts from local artists and take a look at the 2012 "Collectors Print" by artist Jason Kofke.
