News First Slice 12/18/12: Occupy Atlanta protesters head to trial on Monday

The SACS has placed the Dekalb County School District on probation due to its alleged "governance problems." Mark Elgart, CEO of the accrediting agency's parent company, said that some student began the school year in classrooms without textbooks, and in some cases "were asked to go home and use glue to put them back together."
Occupy Atlanta protesters who were arrested during the height of last year's movement will start trial on Monday.
Georgia's electors formally turned in their ballots yesterday, voting for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. Republican Chairman Sue Everhart told GPB: "It kind of sounded good to hear them say 'Mitt Romney President.'"
Former Atlanta Falcons running back Jamal Anderson has pleaded guilty to reckless driving. A Dekalb County State Court sentenced him to 12 month of probation and ordered him to pay a $700 fine.
