First Slice 12/19/12: The National Center for Civil and Human Rights still expected to open in 2014

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights is still a work in progress and should open sometime in spring of 2014, despite the fact that construction hasn't started yet.

It looks like Mayor Kasim Reed and Police Chief George Turner won't be testifying in the trials of 28 Occupy Atlanta protesters.

Georgia State University's marching band will participate in President Barack Obama's inaugural parade next month.

The Atlanta Board of Education Ethics Commission are planning to investigate the swift removal of North Atlanta High School's leadership back in October.

T.I. has launched a homeless veterans housing initiative, which he's calling the "Give Like a King" campaign.
