
Invent Room Pop, the monthly impromptu music creation project that pairs duets or trios of musicians together to make music at Beep Beep Gallery is back for another installment. The musician pool this week consists of Jason Butcher (synth), Zack Hollback (sax & electronics), Michael Hollis (guitar), Stephen Molyneux (electronics), Lisa Kinne (drums) and Lindsay Smith (bass clarinet). The music will be accompanied with projected images from Paige Adair, tonight at 9 p.m. at Beep Beep. More art after the jump in this weekend arts agenda.

Before the fun of Invent Room Pop starts, check out the current exhibition Day Glow Nightmare at href="http://www.beepbeepgallery.com/">Beep Beep Gallery. Featuring the work of five artists who work with extremely vibrant color, showing at Beep Beep through Feb. 9.

Sculpture artist Mary Engel has an exhibition of her meticulously crafted animal sculptures currently showing at Marcia Wood Gallery. Her use of a combination of a variety of mediums, like ceramics, bronze, found objects and plastic toys among other things are pieced together like a set of Lego blocks to create a single image. This exhibition will be on display through Jan. 26, and is definitely worth a trip.
SATURDAY

Painter E.K. Huckaby hosts an artist talk at {Poem 88} in conjunction with his exhibition The Ocean Casts the Greatest Shadow. His mesmerizing way of capturing objects with simple brush strokes is perhaps the most impressive aspect of his paintings. Hear Huckaby speak his mind at 2 p.m. at {Poem 88} on Saturday.

The High Museum hosts its very popular 'Culture Shock' event/party in conjunction with the two exhibitions: Fast Forward: Modern Moments 1913>>2013 and Hard Truths: The Art of Thornton Dial In addition to late night fun at the High, this Culture Shock is accompanied by multiple live music performances, from 8 p.m. to midnight.
