Dollar completed a three-month pre-trial intervention program, attended anger management classes, reported to a probation officer, and paid more than $1,000 in fees to avoid his day in court.
3. A wheelchair-bound Army veteran near Athens pulled a pistol Wednesday afternoon and scared off a would-be burglar, the Banner Herald reports. Mark Sikes, the 53-year-old veteran, didn't shoot the intruder, but told the newspaper he was ready to:
"All I know is he was in my house. Things are starting to get out of hand, and if people don't start standing up for themselves and putting crooks in the ground, the law is just going to slap them on the wrist and let them go."

An Atlanta Police officer says he hit Frank Nance, the 20-year-old who shot APD officer Reggie Robinson earlier this month, in the face with his gun while making the arrest because he feared for his life.
