First Slice 1/29/13: Sonny Perdue passes on U.S. Senate bid

Now that Perdue is out how about Newt for Senate

After nearly every single Georgia politician briefly considered a run for Saxby Chambliss' soon-to-be-vacant U.S. Senate seat, the possible candidates are bowing out early. Herman Cain declined first. Now, former Gov. Sonny Perdue said that he won't run for Congress. Who's up next?

House Speaker David Ralston is expected to reveal another round of ethics reform as early as today that would "be applied to all levels of government." Let's hope it's more of a cap than a visor.

The Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia World Congress Center Authority have chosen five architects as finalists to design the potential new stadium ... assuming the NFL team doesn't head to Los Angeles.

LGBT activist Shane Windmeyer wrote an article for The Huffington Post about his budding friendship with Dan Cathy, who recently invited him to the Chick-fil-A Bowl game as his personal guest. This comes months after the Chick-fil-A president said that he opposed same-sex marriage, which sparked a flurry of protests.

The College Park City Council has allotted $20,000 to buy back guns on Feb. 9. It'll be the first time that the city has held this kind of program. No identification will be required and citizens could receive up to $150 for some assault weapons.
