Weekend Arts Agenda: Boom City

Dashboard Co-Op will present Boom City, Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight. The free, one-night-only exhibit will remake 117,000 square feet of vacant space in the M. Rich Building downtown, 115 Martin Luther King Jr Drive. View portfolios from the 12 featured artists and other Dashboard collaborators.

Kim Annos Grand Tour at Marcia Wood Gallery

  • Kim Anno's "Grand Tour" at Marcia Wood Gallery

Kim Anno's solo exhibition, Grand Tour, opens at Marcia Wood Gallery tonight, with a 7 to 9 p.m. reception featuring the California-based painter, photographer, and video artist. The exhibit will display a series of works examining cities and landscapes through photograph and oil. The exhibit runs through March 2.

Like Voltron, Atlanta's emerging artist venues of choice, MINT Gallery and Young Blood Boutique, have merged into Young Blood's N. Highland Ave. space. The boutique recently changed hands and the gallery space will now be operated by MINT. Nick Madden, Henry Detweiler, Jared Kelley, Joe Tsambiras, Chris Carder, Jane Garver, Sean Fahie, Estela Semeco, Jason Travis, Ashley Anderson, and more will be showing work in the grand reopening exhibition. Beneath the Bridges of Atlanta

  • Beneath the Bridges of Atlanta

Photojournalist Tony Smart will deliver an artist's talk at the Auburn Avenue Research Library Saturday at 4 p.m. He will discuss Beneath the Bridges of Atlanta,, an exhibit of his work opening there today. The documentary series draws from a body of more than 2,000 images captured under and around metro Atlanta bridges. The exhibit will run through Feb. 24.

Sunday

The Beginning of Life in the Yellow Jungle, Thornton Dial

In tandem with its ongoing Thornton Dial exhibit, the High will sponsor a Folk Art and Home Tour with Tina Cox Sunday at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Cox's private collection includes works by Southern artists including Purvis Young, Lonnie Holley, R.A. Miller, and Sybil Gibson as well as ceramists Andy Nasisse, Chester Hewell, and Ron Myers. Tickets are $12 for members of the High and $17 for non-members and can be purchased online.
