Mayor Kasim Reed and U.S. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, R-Coweta County, have bowed out of the race for Sen. Saxby Chambliss' soon-to-be-vacant seat. Who's up next?
The University of Georgia has tapped Jere Morehead to be its next president. He starts on July 1.
Atlanta Progressive News reports that the State Bar of Georgia has filed a complaint against Councilman H. Lamar Willis, claiming that he stole money intended for a child in a 2011 personal injury case.
State legislators have voted on HB 57, which seeks to make synthetic marijuana illegal, and passed it rather handily by a count of 167 to 1.
According to a recent study, Atlanta has the seventh worst commute in the United States.
And last but not least, Forbes makes the case for why the South will "rise to power again," citing an increase in people moving to the region, the rise of families, economic growth, and an uptick in corporate investments.
