First Slice 3/4/13: Alabama police chief apologizes to Freedom Riders

Congressman John Lewis, D-Atlanta

Montgomery Police Chief Kevin Murphy apologized to Congressman John Lewis, D-Atlanta, and other Freedom Riders for failing to protect the civil rights activists when they were attacked in the city in 1961. Lewis, Vice President Joe Biden, and others re-enacted the march from Selma to Montgomery on Sunday.

First, we're glad no one was hurt. That being said, a high-speed chase involving an airport shuttle van must be a sight to see.
