Mayor Kasim Reed, Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, and members of the Atlanta City Council will meet at City Hall at 2:30 p.m. to make an announcement regarding the proposed Atlanta Falcons stadium.

What exactly city, state, and team officials will discuss, well, we don’t know. But it’s expected to be more than a “we’re moving forward in our negotiations and making great progress.” WAGA plans to broadcast the announcement live.

Plans for how a new stadium’s impact on surrounding neighborhoods including Vine City, English Avenue, and Castleberry Hill will be mitigated are apparently still in the works. That proposal could possibly be presented to the Atlanta City Council, which must sign off on using the hotel/motel tax to help fund the estimated $1 billion project, before the end of March.

Stay tuned.
