Tax incentives offered to boost businesses along Auburn, Edgewood

Just days after construction crews started laying tracks for the downtown streetcar route, Invest Atlanta, the city's economic development arm, announced today that two historic streets along the line have been named "opportunity zones" by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. The tax program offers incentives to businesses that add jobs, relocate, or expand along Edgewood and Auburn avenues.

Central Atlanta Progress today also rolled out a booklet (PDF) aimed at enticing developers to build along the route. The write-up includes some wonky factoids and renderings of what's to come along the streetcar line, including Georgia State University's proposed $85 million, 200,000 square-foot law school near Woodruff Park:
