Behold! A basic idea of what the new Edgewood Avenue bridge will look like

Project should be finished next spring

The Edgewood Avenue bridge is dead! Long live the Edgewood Avenue bridge!

Atlanta Beltline Inc., the nonprofit tasked with developing the 22-mile loop of parks, trails, and (one day) transit, passed along this very rough rendering of the $4.5 million span that will link Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park. (A more detailed visual will probably be available this summer, an ABI spokesman said.) It appears the stairs and ramps providing pedestrian access to the Beltline connect to the long overlooked and lonely Gunby Street, which is currently closed to traffic, rather than the actual project corridor. A Beltline spokesman says in an email that the ramp does indeed link to the Beltline. Sorry, Gunby Street!
