First Slice 4/24/13: GDOT proposes new I-75 toll lanes in metro Atlanta

The Dalai Lama returns to Atlanta for yet another visit

The Georgia Department of Transportation is looking into adding new toll lanes along a 12.26-mile portion of I-75 in Henry and Clayton Counties.

The Dalai Lama will return to Atlanta this October to visit Emory University. He'll also address the public on "The Pillars of Responsible Citizenship in the 21st Century Global Village" at The Gwinnett Center on October 8.

The Washington Post recently ranked Georgia's most challenging high schools. Among the top three are Gwinnett School of Math, Science & Tech, South Forsyth, and Walton.

Gov. Nathan Deal has signed a concussion bill that requires young athletes to be removed from sporting events when a head injury is likely. Under the law, players can't return to action until cleared by a medical professional.

ICYMI: A former Woodruff Arts Center employee admitted yesterday to embezzling more than $1.1 million from the Midtown non-profit organization.
