Barrow: 'I will not be a candidate for the Senate in 2014'

"I'm grateful for the encouragement I've received from folks all across the State of Georgia, but I've decided that I will not be a candidate for the Senate in 2014. I enjoy my work on behalf of the folks in the 12th District, and I look forward to continuing to serve them in the House of Representatives."

- U.S. Rep. John Barrow, D-Augusta, announces that he will not enter 2014 U.S. Senate race to replace Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Georgia. Many political observers thought that the fifth-term congressman would be one of the Democrat's best challengers against a crowded Republican field. (via the AJC)

Democrats will have to look elsewhere for a candidate now that the Blue Dog has bowed out. Michelle Nunn and state Rep. Scott Holcomb, D-Atlanta, are among the rumored possibilities. But it is anybody's guess at this point.

To save CL time from painstakingly documenting every little comment people say, we've created 'Soundbites' to call attention to their remarks.
