First Slice 6/11/13: U.S. Sen. to investigate 'exorbitant' salaries for Atlanta Housing Authority employees

U.S. Poet Laureate and Emory University professor Natasha Trethewey has been appointed to a second term as the nation's premier poetry ambassador.

According to NBC News, the Atlanta Botanical Garden's "humongous" plant sculptures have taken the city by storm. "It's like a fairy tale come to life," executive director Mary Pat Matheson said. How cool, everybody!
