Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy consider whether love can stand the test of time in the latest of Richard Linklater’s romantic trilogy.

The cinematic romance that bloomed with Before Sunrise grows richer and more intricate with each successive sequel. Director Richard Linklater’s original film from 2005 offered a pleasant enough tale of two idealistic young people - aspiring American writer Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and philosophical French beauty Celine (Julie Delpy) - who impulsively spend an evening wandering the streets of Vienna.

Before Sunset from 2005 reunites the duo after nine years apart, and finds that a few hours in Paris can rekindle their connection. The film’s ambiguous but luminous ending hints that true romance will always find away, but the superb latest installment, Before Midnight arrives to say, wait a minute - love might not be that easy.
