Mayor Reed responds to upward mobility study ranking Atlanta last among major U.S. metro areas

"For whatever reason, if you look at the study, many of its conclusions would be true about the entire South, and have their roots in issues that date all the way back to the Civil War ... Show me another city in the South in a Southern state that has been more successful than the city of Atlanta."

Mayor Kasim Reed comments on a new study published this week about upward mobility. The New York Times, in reporting about the study, had specifically noted Atlanta as the worst large American metropolitan area in terms of economic mobility. (via WABE)
