First Slice 7/26/13: It's Newt Gingrich's world and we're just living in it

Newt Gingrich, the former Georgia congressman and House Speaker, loves him some zoos. Seriously. Yesterday he visited one and proceeded to scare a 2,448-year-old tortoise. Then he communicated with a bird of prey. He did this while wearing Google Glass. He tweeted about it. A few hours later he strapped himself into a Caterpillar simulator. Tweeted about that too. What will Newt Gingrich, modern adventurer, do today?

A prime piece of real estate in downtown Decatur can be yours. Well, in exchange for some cash.

Is Georgia Power, which was recently forced by the Public Service Commission to expand its use of solar power, starting to lose its clout with lawmakers and public officials?

Remember former Chief Judge Brooks Blitch III of the Alapaha Judicial Circuit? The judge who was disbarred in 2011 for unethical conduct? He's been reinstated to practice law in Georgia.

The young men who had to be rescued after sliding down part of Stone Mountain were, according to a youth minister, trying to find a secluded spot to possibly hold a Bible study when they lost their footing.

Great job, Halliburton!
