First Slice 8/8/13: Strip club workers file suit against City of Atlanta

A DeKalb County animal control worker has found himself behind bars on charges of alleged animal cruelty. Calvin Battle, 26, is accused of striking an animal repeatedly with a metal bowl and kicking another animal, acts supervisors say were caught on video.

An Atlanta-area man says he found maggots in the sandwich he bought from a Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport eatery. Officials told Channel 2 they didn't find any health violations after inspecting Café Intermezzo following the complaint late last week.

The Associated Press talked with some renegade puffers lighting up cigarettes in Woodruff Park. According to the reporting, outdoor smoking bans in cities around the country have nearly doubled in the past five years, and Atlanta is no exception. But some experts say the evidence that outdoor smoking is hazardous to your health is "flimsy" at best, while others say the findings are pretty straightforward. Either way, you're not supposed to smoke in the park.

A group of strip club workers has filed a suit against the City of Atlanta for what they say is excessive and unconstitutional fees charged to work in the city.
