The freaks came out in broad daylight yesterday at DragonCon's annual parade down Peachtree St. Billy Dee Williams, er, Lando Calrissian, made an appearance, along with that dude from Ghostbusters. What's his name, again? Oh yeah, Ernie Hudson.

President Obama has decided to seek congressional approval before taking military action against Syria. While American intelligence claims 1,429 (including 400 children) have been killed in chemical attacks, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an organization that monitors casualties in the country, has only confirmed 502 total deaths.

Mayor Kasim Reed's newly appointed LGBT adviser Robin Shahar has a long history with the fight for gay rights in Georgia. While rising in the ranks of the city's law department during the 1990s, she was simultaneously pursuing a lawsuit against former state attorney general Michael Bowers after he rescinded a job offer to Shahar upon finding out she was a lesbian. Though she won't be doing any voter outreach in her new position, Shahar has defended Mayor Reed in light of the criticism he faced over his handling of the lawsuits resulting from the unconstitutional APD raid on the Midtown bar, Atlanta Eagle.

What's black and white and brown all over? In a Pew analysis of the sixty largest metro areas for Hispanic population, metro Atlanta ranks No. 19 with Hispanics accounting for eleven percent of the population. On the statewide level, Georgia ranks tenth in the nation for fastest growing Hispanic population, with a 103 percent increase from 2001 and 2011.

It seems inevitable that Google Glass will eventually turn all of us into Big Brother's whiny little brother.

Brian Banks' quest for redemption in the NFL continues. The former high school star who served five years in prison after being falsely accused of rape in high school was released by the Atlanta Falcons on Friday. But he may still have a chance to wind up on the Falcons' practice squad after thoroughly impressing owner Arthur Blank.

Clemson took the Georgia Bulldogs to school in the highest scoring game of a rivalry that stretches back to 1897.
