First Slice 9/16/13: Biden comes to Savannah to party... or probably just tour port

Mayor Kasim Reed, Gov. Nathan Deal, and Vice President Joe Biden today are scheduled to tour the Port of Savannah and listen to the veep recite dirty limericks while college students braid his ponytail. Biden will also visit the Charleston, S.C., port, the Savannah shipping yard's neighbor and rival for business.

The city's urban forest could increase by 4,000 trees under a proposal currently under consideration this week by the Atlanta City Council. The program would include using goats and sheep to tackle invasive plants.
