ATLwood: Someone made Kurt Russell smile

Spoiler: It was Ludacris.

Filming Updates:
- Is it possible for me to talk too much about Fast & Furious 7? Trick question: The film had a full week of filming and sightings and general fervor. I’ll be talking about it regardless! Cast/crew were at Oakland Cemetery and have already filmed at an elementary school and a Sylvan Road correctional facility; also Castleberry Hill. They’ll next move outside the perimeter (Gwinnett). Also: Kurt Russell! Paul Walker!
- Dumb and Dumber To is set up in Cabbagetown, very near the home of Atlanta editor Rebecca Burns. The Atlanta neighborhood will reportedly double as Rhode Island, while Grantville, farther south, will become Kansas.
- The Red Road filmed in Acworth, very near where I grew up, and then Cartersville.
- Line of Sight reportedly filmed at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, my actual hometown.
- Single Ladies filmed at The Biltmore.
- HGTV’s Drew Scott filmed at Flor last weekend.

Sightings:
- Jennifer Lawrence, Jeff Daniels, and The Farrellys all had dinner together at Watershed. Synergy! Also good timing, since both Mockingjay and D&D are in production.
- According to Jennifer Brett, Carrey will be staying in a Buckhead high-rise while filming.
- Paul Walker has been seen at RA Sushi Bar Restaurant and The Real Chow Baby.
- Bad news: Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus have called it quits. Good news: Hemsworth is now in Atlanta. (These may be reversed.)

Castings:
- The Game needs extras of all kinds, 18 and over, for filming in October and November.
- The Originals is looking for a “featured vampire victim” (exactly what it sounds like), between 18-30 and female, for filming on the 25 in Conyers. Email info + photos to ORIGINALSEXTRAS at GMAIL.COM. You get an extra $25 for being “bitten.”

Deals:
- Laurie Holden, most recently remembered as someone who was very bad at surviving on The Walking Dead, has joined D&D.
- A Tupac biopic is moving forward, with financing from multiple partners all aligning this week. The project would/will film in Atlanta.

Miscellany:
- Jennifer Brett talked to Kyla-Drew Simmons, who plays one of the kidnapped children in that kidnapped children thriller, Prisoners, starring Hugh Jackman in a beard.
- Reese Witherspoon’s Devil’s Knot, which filmed here last summer, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival to head-scratchingly high praise. I mean that literally: the reviews come with weird caveats.
