Portland mayor: 'It'll take generations' to fix metro Atlanta's sprawl

"Atlanta's a mess... Sorry, but Atlanta's planned so poorly, it'll take generations to change the shape of the place."

- Portland Mayor Charlie Hales, speaking at the Portland Business Journal's Power Breakfast on Wednesday, when asked if the Oregon city's "penchant for transit-oriented development" would translate to other regions. He told the attendee that metro Portland has benefited from an urban growth boundary, which has helped the region avoid others' mistakes.
