Democrats and Republicans in Congress are expected to continue disagreeing over whether one of the world's most powerful countries should just take off for a few days. Or a week. Anybody want to place bets?

Local governments where voters rejected last year's 1-percent sales tax to fund transportation projects are starting to see one of the consequences: paying more to pull down state funding for new roads.

State lawmakers plan to take another look at Georgia's zero-tolerance law regarding weapons in public schools after students recently got caught with fishing and pocket knives. No word if the students who have been caught with a shuriken, "dirk," or blackjack at their school will get such a break.

And you thought getting your driver's license renewed was a pain.

Three people on Saturday night were shot in southwest Atlanta near Cascade Road, witnesses say, after a young man approached the group and ordered them to "give it up."

Atlanta's efforts to help get the chronically homeless and veterans living on the streets into housing is receiving applause from some homeless service providers.
