Mayor Kasim Reed remains a strong favorite to win another four years in office. But despite his large war chest and established public record, he's not the only candidate that'll be on the ballot in a few weeks.

Glenn Wrightson is one of Reed's three challengers (Al Bartell and Fraser Duke are the others). The longtime Grant Park resident, who touts the campaign slogan "practical solutions for the common good," says he would look out for ordinary Atlantans across the city.

"I think we need somebody [different] in the mayor's office," Wrightson says. "The Franklins, The Reeds ... we've got this Atlanta political machine that isn't looking out for the average citizen as much as it's promoted tourism."

The long-shot candidate was out and about in Poncey-Highland over the weekend, talking to Atlantans, scattering signs, and cruising around in his campaign chariot.

There are many items on Wrightson's platform. If elected. he says he'd make city government more citizen-friendly, ban street name changes, sync traffic lights, lower water rates, fund local bakeries, reconsidering parking ticket process, repair "decorative" fountains in parks, and so much more.

"Let's think about the little things first," Wrightson says. "And then plan for the big things."
