First Slice 10/22/13: The mysterious man behind the Thomas Watson statue petition speaks!

CL Photo Editor Joeff Davis, who last year launched a campaign calling for the state to remove the statue of white supremacist Thomas Watson from the front of the Gold Dome, talked with 11 Alive's Brenda Wood last night about Gov. Nathan Deal's decision to relocate the memorial.

The victim of a brazen stick-up and carjacking in Midtown says the Atlanta Police have made an arrest in the case.

Jon Jones, the 26-year-old pricing analyst running to replace Atlanta City Councilwoman Natalyn Archibong, has reportedly dropped out of the race. The openly gay candidate, who advocated a Reddit-esque "direct democracy" platform, is now backing the incumbent in the crowded race where not even yard signs are safe.

A law firm tasked with investigating Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker says in its interim report that he, among other accusations, had a conflict of interest when voting to rezone a property for a developer. Bodker has denied any wrongdoing.

Worth reading behind the AJC paywall: Three weeks after the paper reported allegations that the head of the state Ethics Commission helped cover up a corruption probe into Gov. Nathan Deal's gubernatorial campaign, no investigator has been appointed.
