First Slice 11/20/13: Atlanta congressman introduces bill to ban firearms at airports

U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Lithonia, has sponsored a bill to prohibit guns from being carried into airports. "It defies logic that we would allow anyone other than law enforcement officials to carry a loaded gun within an airport," he said.

Some City Hall employees, Atlanta Police Department officers, and Atlanta firefighters have filed a lawsuit against Mayor Kasim Reed and Atlanta City Council over pension reforms.

If Atlanta Board of Education Chairman Reuben McDaniel doesn't fare well in upcoming APS runoff, he may have a future as a National Basketball Association union rep.

A top Paulding County official has called for Delta CEO Richard Anderson to step down from his position as Metro Atlanta Chamber's incoming chairman. "If you feel it is important to block the development of Silver Comet Field, an important project for the future of Paulding County, then you should consider resigning your position with the MAC," commission chairman David Austin said in a letter.
