First Slice 2/20/14: Do you live in one of the 50 safest "cities" in Georgia?

Here is a list of the 50 safest "cities" in Ga compiled by Safewise based on FBI crime statistics. Not to be a total grammarian contrarian, but this list has a very loose interpretation of the definition of "city." Town, borough, hamlet, whistle-stop - any of these might be employed to better describe the Peach State Pleasantvilles highlighted in the list.

This coming Monday, Mayor Kasim Reed will participate in a press conference to announce the initiative "Southerners for the Freedom to Marry." He will be joined by a variety of LGBT advocates. Reed has publicly supported full marriage equality since late 2011.

A 17-year-old was shot and killed by a Euharlee police officer when he answered the door to his home while holding a Wii controller in one hand. He was shot once in the chest. Eyewitnesses state that he was clearly holding a Wii controller and not pointing a gun at the officer as the police reported to GBI investigators.

The situation continues to degenerate in Kiev and across all of Ukraine. A disturbing uptick of unarmed protesters being gunned down in the streets has inspired many members of the opposition to take up arms against the police and military.
