OIL CHANGE: Alabama legislators pass cannabis oil bill

Here is a comprehensive recap of the Georgia General Assembly's final day of the 2014 legislative session.

The Alabama House and Senate unanimously passed a bill that would authorize and fund a $1 million University of Alabama at Birmingham study on the effectiveness of using cannabis oil to control seizures. Children who suffer from severe seizure disorders can be a part of the study and receive the oil without fear of breaking the law. Good work, neighbors.

Fred Phelps, founder of the Westboro Baptist Church, has died. Known for his "God Hates Fags" agenda and protests at funerals for members of the military, Matthew Shepard, and many others, Phelps was almost universally despised across the political and cultural spectrum. Westboro Baptist has said that there will not be a public burial. Phelps, however, invited people to protest at his funeral in a 2006 interview. He encouraged it.

Today, while Ukraine signed an agreement to guarantee closer relations with the EU, Vladimir Putin was dotting the t's and crossing the i's (I'm guessing, I don't understand the Cyrillic alphabet) on the law that would make Crimea part of the Russian Federation.
