Members of Georgia's GOP are crying foul over one of state Sen. and gubernatorial candidate Jason Carter's campaign fundraisers. Party leaders claim that the event, which is being held today in New York and will feature his grandfather, former President Jimmy Carter, was planned before the legislative session ended. "By working on the clock to line up contributions for his gubernatorial campaign, Carter has betrayed the public trust and violated state law," Ryan Mahoney, a Georgia GOP spokesman, told the AJC. "Carter's constituents should be outraged by his self-serving, hypocritical, criminal behavior." Carter spokeswoman Meg Robinson called the attack a "desperate attempt by the GOP to distract voters from Nathan Deal's complete lack of leadership."

A man was shot and killed on Thursday afternoon outside Grady Memorial Hospital. Atlanta Police are still searching for suspects and a motive behind the homicide.

Cobb County resident Larry Savage has filed a formal ethics complaint against four county commissioners over the Atlanta Braves' stadium deal. "No officer shall engage in any activity or transaction that is prohibited by law ... which is applicable to him by virtue of his office," the complaint reads.

Atlanta Public Schools will likely begin to prosecute parents of Grady High School students who faked their addresses so they could play on its football team, Superintendent Erroll Davis says.

Thomas Turner, Atlanta Police Chief George Turner's son, was recently arrested for allegedly shoplifting underwear, two water bottles, batteries, and flashlights from a Douglasville Walmart.
