Creative Loafing is hiring a Culture Editor

Posted By on Tue, Apr 22, 2014 at 10:34 AM

Culture Editor Wyatt Williams is leaving CL at the end of May to pursue the easy life as a freelance writer/novelist. Wyatt's been hanging around CL since 2008. He started as an intern and worked his way up to writing think pieces on cats, chickens, and twins. He'll be missed! (He's the only one who wears shoes as loud as mine on these old M Rich Building floors, among other admirable qualities.) BUT he must be replaced. Do you wear loud shoes and love the arts? This could be the job for you. Check out the job description below or read the exact same thing on our job openings page.

Creative Loafing Atlanta, the 42-year-old award-winning alt-weekly that shares a home with OutKast and the world's busiest airport, has an immediate opening for a Culture Editor.

Applicants must be accomplished writers/editors with at least three years of experience working in the journalism industry. The ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of Atlanta art and culture and the curiosity to cover an active arts community that encompasses everything from visual art, theater, drag, opera, and literature to film, poetry, comedy, dance, and more. The Culture Editor will be responsible for managing and recruiting freelancers; contributing regularly to the blog; writing and editing multiple cover stories and special packages throughout the year; having a strong presence on social media; and generally being a cool and reliable co-worker to a tight-knit and extremely hardworking editorial staff.

Applicants with strong opinions, weird ideas, and the ability to balance late nights and early meetings preferred. Phone calls are not. Please email cover letter, resume and clips to Editor Debbie Michaud, debbie.michaud@creativeloafing.com, by Friday, May 16.
