First Slice 6/23/14: Thanks, Portugal!

Damn you, Cristiano!
The U.S. Men's National Soccer Team's hopes of defeating mighty Portugal were dashed last night when, in the last seconds of the game, Cristiano Ronaldo passed the ball to Silvestre Varela, who headed in an equalizer. The game ended in a 2-2 tie. The U.S. faces Germany on Thursday in the final match of the group stage.

Do you recognize the man in this video who looks like he just walked out of a professional meth lab? Or his friend who looks like he just smelled some of those godawful trees that blossom every spring? Atlanta Police say the two suspects broke into a northeast Atlanta house and made off with several items, including the home owners' car.

Some Clayton County residents are asking a lobbyist named God to help convince elected officials to call for a referendum that would pave the way for transit service. Better hope he has registered with the state ethics commission because you don't want that scandal on your hands!

Thousands of people have signed on to a petition begging for the Cobb County district attorney to drop murder charges against the father who left his child in a locked car, where the two-year-old died. They argue that the family will have suffered enough and that the child's death was a tragic mistake.

Never change, Vernon Jones.

Georgia's depressingly bad "guns everywhere" law has many, many people confused.
