Gov. Deal's office was probably blasting BTO yesterday as CNBC ranked Georgia as the top state for business in the nation. Before we start poppin' bottles, the same study ranked the Peach State 32 in the areas of education and quality of life. According to Wesley Tharpe of the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute, the top ranking should be considered in a larger context. "It's looking at a very narrow question of is Georgia a good place for large corporations and CEOs to maximize their bottom line, but it's not asking questions like is the economy working for everyone, is prosperity broadly shared, and because it doesn't ask those questions, I think means very little for workers and families trying to make a living in Georgia."

The unemployment rate in metro Atlanta increased to 7.3 percent in May from 6.5 percent in April.

In Vine City, Fulton County is forcing 17 formerly homeless families to relocate by July 31. The families are all enrolled in a program specifically tailored to provide medical aid and housing for homeless families with disabilities.

The Braves are being sued by a fan who claims he was assaulted by a Turner Field security guard at a playoff game in 2012.
